About Saturday Arts and Dance:

The Saturday Arts and Dance programme allows children to take part in a relaxed morning of art-making, games, movement and play activities.

The art sessions use materials that can often be found at home, offering simple techniques that can easily be replicated at low or no cost.

Our dance sessions introduce children to new dance and movement techniques, incorporating play, props and games, allowing them to learn at their own pace.

Please get in touch if you have any questions or feel it would be helpful to discuss your child’s needs with us before they attend. You can also note this on the registration form.

The classes are split into two age groups, 5-7 years and 8-12 years. Children in both ages groups are encouraged and supported to participate in the arts and dance activities during the morning.

Healthy snacks are provided. If your child has specific dietary needs or allergies please note this on the registration form.

The sessions will involve movement, exploring and art making indoors (and sometimes outdoors, weather permitting), so please:

  • Wear comfortable clothes and layers that you don’t mind getting messy.
  • Wear footwear that allows you to be active and move.
  • Bring a warm/waterproof outer layer, just in case we make it outdoors!

Please note:

  • We encourage children to take part and be active members of the group by helping out, being kind and supportive of each other;
  • We encourage families to help make Arts & Dance a ‘technology free zone’. Where possible, we would kindly ask children to put away mobile phones or devices during the sessions, unless needed to support participation or for emergencies. Our team may use their devices sometimes during sessions – e.g. to take photos, access resources, or help with registration but we will aim to keep this to a minimum.

Thank you for your understanding! If you have any questions or concerns please get in touch.

Important information:

  • These sessions are aimed at children ages 5-12 living in the local community (priority areas of Muirhouse, Pilton, Granton and Drylaw).
  • Priority will be given to local community members and NEA Members. To find out more about our Membership Scheme and to sign up, visit our website Membership page.
  • Due to high demand, places at each session are not reserved, but available on a first-come, first served basis.
  • Completing the online registration form does not guarantee a place at every session.
  • We recommend arriving in good time for the start of the session to avoid disappointment.
  • We aim to make sessions accessible but we are not currently able to provide 1:1 support. If you think your child may require 1:1 support (they may already receive 1:1 support at school, for example), please get in touch with us to discuss their needs further before completing the online registration form.

Arts & Dance is made possible through continued support from our funder KPE4.
