Songs of Protest Workshop

A group of people sit in a circle on folding chairs in a bright room with large windows. They are participating in a singing workshop, holding song sheets, and one person in the centre plays an acoustic guitar. The mood appears relaxed and engaged. A yellow graphic swirl overlays the bottom right corner of the image.

NORTH EDINBURGH ARTS THEATRE
THURSDAY 31 JULY 2024
10:00AM – 12:30PM

Join us for our follow up workshop from our first Songs of Protest workshop to sing and learn about Scottish protest songs past and present and further develop a community song about Pennywell Road and Greater Pilton!
A creative session with choir leader Penny Stone, and members of four local community groups.
These workshops have been inspired by the photography exhibition Resistance at the Gallery of Modern Art, which documents protest across the UK from the Suffragettes to the Iraq war. It is part of a programme of activity with National Galleries which will culminate with an exhibition of new artwork from North Edinburgh at the Portrait Gallery in November and include art workshops and film screenings at both Royston Wardieburn and North Edinburgh Arts.
