Young people at LOCAL RESISTANCE Cinema events

Overhead view of young people lying on a bright yellow floor, arranging grey fabric cushions that spell out the word “RESISTANCE.”
It was a joy to welcome local young people to the LOCAL RESISTANCE Cinema evenings throughout October, bringing fresh perspectives, creativity, and energy.
  • Craigroyston Community High School‘s Modern Studies students visited NEA to watch Old Enough to Know Better, sparking brilliant conversations about activism, youth voices, and local change.
  • NEA Youth Arts Collective devised a brilliant short performance as part of the Local Resistance Cinema event on Thursday 23 October, using artwork by local artist Subie Coleman to inspire our audience.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part and shared their voices in our celebration of local activism, solidarity, and community!
NEA’s LOCAL RESISTANCE Cinema evenings were curated by the NEA Film Group with Project Esperanza for Local Cinema Network’s programme “LOCAL RESISTANCE”, which includes events in Wester Hailes, Craigmillar and Leith, September – December 2025.
