Name our Defibrillator!

Competition for Local Young People (Ages 11 – 16)

We are really excited to announce that we will have a new Public Access Defibrillator outside our new building, when we reopen this spring!

Every week in Scotland, around 70 people have a cardiac arrest at home, work or in a public place. Starting CPR as soon as possible will give the person the best chance of survival, but being able to use a defibrillator within the first few minutes of collapse increases that chance even further. We have been working with St John Scotland and Capital City Partnership to bring a new defibrillator to the local area, for everyone in the community to use if needed. It will be located at the entrance of our building, at Macmillan Square.

In the meantime, we need suggestions from local young people to give the defibrillator a name. If you are aged 11 – 16 and live in North Edinburgh*, we want to hear from you! Please share with us your ideas for a name for the defibrillator by completing a short online form, and you could have the chance to win an Alexa device and a £50 cinema voucher for Vue Cinema.

Responses are accepted by Friday 11 April 2025 at 6pm. Please ensure you have your parents’ permission to take part in this competition. You can submit up to 3 ideas of names.

**By local young people we mean young people (ages 11 – 16) living in the community surrounding North Edinburgh Arts, which includes areas of Muirhouse, Pilton, Drylaw and Granton.
