Thank you to everyone who joined us for four fantastic LOCAL RESISTANCE Cinema evenings throughout October. These events were curated by the NEA Film Group together with Project Esperanza for Local Cinema Network’s programme LOCAL RESISTANCE, running from September to December 2025 in Muirhouse, Wester Hailes, Craigmillar and Leith.
The cinema evenings were part of Art For Grown Ups’ wider, Creative Resistance Project in collaboration with National Galleries of Scotland and Royston Wardieburn Community Centre‘s Arts & Culture Group. As this partnership continues, we are delighted to invite you to join us for a special afternoon on Tuesday 25 November celebrating the Solidarity Wins: Creative Resistance in North Edinburgh project.

Using the Resistance exhibition as a starting point, activists Willie Black and Anna Hutchison alongside chair Dave Pickering, editor of the North Edinburgh News and Information Worker at Granton Information Centre, discuss North Edinburgh community activism, campaigns and actions, and their relationship and solidarity with local, national and international protests and change.

Join us for an afternoon of creativity, community and conversation celebrating North Edinburgh’s spirit of resistance.
This event is the culmination of four months of creativity and collaborations, including archive film events and song writing, with Royston Wardieburn Community Centre, Granton Hub and National Galleries of Scotland. NEA’s Art For Grown Ups project is supported by Creative Scotland.
