From April 2019 Volunteer Edinburgh will continue to offer support to the general public that want to offer their time to volunteering as well as to volunteering involving organisations to ensure there is a high quality, effective volunteering information service in the North Edinburgh area.
There will be support for the promotion of best practice in volunteer management including via training, consultancy and recognised quality standards and the effective engagement of volunteers.
Visit the Volunteer Edinburgh website for main information on volunteering in Edinburgh.
North Edinburgh Groups:
Knit and Natter
Tuesdays 10am -12.00noon, North Edinburgh Arts Café
For those who can knit and crochet and those who want to learn. We knit and crochet different items: toys, blankets, hats, gloves, scarves….We make a bit of money from selling the stuff and we also make things for charity. We also get out and about and attend events and organise masterclasses to learn new stuff.
Catch up with Heather Yang at North Edinburgh Arts on a Tuesday morning as she will be assisting with the Knit & Natter group who are busy in the coming weeks with the Luminate Festival and creating a blanket on Wednesday 15 May to be donated to St Columba’s Hospice. More details about our Luminate event can be found here.
What else we’ve been up to:
Making baby doll’s outfits for Bon Tot in Stockbridge
And continuing to sell at items at The Scottish Design Exchange that is a social enterprise supporting local creative talent in Ocean Terminal
Knit & Natter are also working on a commission for Jupiter Rising in August 2019 at Jupiter Artland.
Learn all you need to know to pass the theory test while working one to one with support using a DVD and going at your pace…
