Creative Kits: Bookbinding and Botanicals (Ages 11+)

In partnership with #ChildrensArtWeek and North Edinburgh Arts, local artist Cass Barron shares some of her favourite leaf printing and bookbinding techniques in this FREE creative kit, aimed at children 11+.

In the kit you’ll find everything you need to make reusable leaf stamps, take leaf rubbings and create detailed leaf prints. Cass will show you how to make a range of decorative papers using these methods with leaves that you have gathered. Cass will then share 3 ways to transform your papers into handmade books, which you can then use as sketchbooks, nature journals and notebooks – they make great gifts too!

The kit includes all the tools and materials you need, illustrated instructions and a link to ‘how to’ videos that can be viewed via Cass’s website. There will also be a plant identification sheet included that you can use to identify the leaves and plants that grow near you, and some seeds with instructions on how to grow them.

To sign up for one of our Bookbinding & Botanicals kits, please email or call 0131 315 2151 (Mon-Fri, 10am – 4pm) by Friday 3 July 2020.

Please note: There are only 30 FREE Bookbinding & Botanicals kits available, so priority will be given to those living in the Muirhouse, Pilton, Drylaw, Granton or Royston areas on a first come basis.
